Today's (OK, Yesterday's) Higher Education
Another from the "You gotta see this video!" archives
from Michael Wesch of Kansas State University.
With my training in middle school and secondary science education, and long work history in technology marketing, this video really makes me think about what is happening to our students in high school and college.
This was made a few years ago, and with new distractions like Twitter on the scene since then, and the growth of mobile Internet browsing coming into it's own via iPhones and iPhone-like smartphones, our attention span is changing, our appetite for corporate messaging (are you listening advertisers?) is changing at its very core, and our expectations for what can be accomplished in a given amount of time is changing!
You say your uncle doesn't have a PC at home and your two cousins only have access to the Internet at school? Ouch.
It's not about the technology--well, not entirely--it's about how we're all changing as a result of the technology. That seems to be forgotten all too often.
